IS Student Angel Trachta Recognized for Leadership & Engagement in International Education

Angel Trachta has been an active member of the UI Organization for the Active Support of International Students (OASIS)and has been taking on leadership responsibilities since the spring of 2019. She was elected president of OASIS this academic year (2019-2020) and has made it her goal to make OASIS more inclusive of different perspectives and working styles, as well as being more proactive in working with other groups on campus.
IS Student Angel Trachta Awarded Critical Language Scholarship to South Korea

University of Iowa international studies major (East Asian studies and international business) Angel Trachta, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been awarded a 2019 U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS). This summer, Trachta will travel to Gwangju, South Korea, and will study advanced Korean at the Chonnam National University.

As a first-generation college student, attending college meant taking a new path no one in her family had taken before. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and International Studies in 2017.

PHIL Student Success Grants: Now Accepting Applications for Summer/Fall 2019

The PHIL Student Success Grants provide funding for a variety of activities for undergraduate and graduate students outside of the classroom, such as research, travel, and service projects. The Office of the President has generously allocated $5,000 per semester to help enhance the student experience at the University through these grants. Applications for Summer/Fall 2019 funding will be accepted until February 28th. The goal is to allow students to pursue opportunities that might not otherwise be possible without funding.
