Ryann Hubbart is a recipient of the 2022 Global Student Award, which recognizes one undergraduate and one graduate student who are leaders deeply engaged in international education on campus or abroad. Hubbart is an undergraduate student from Clinton, Iowa, double-majoring in international studies and economics and double-minoring in Arabic studies and history. University of Iowa international studies alumna Holly Harris (Fall 2021) has been awarded a 2022-23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to be an English teaching assistant at a university in Brazil.

Students in Dr. Peter Gerlach's course IS:3012 (Community Engaged Learning with Refugees and Immigrants in Iowa) partnered with local nonprofits to host a community donation drive on May 11th, 2022. The drive provided gently used clothing and household items to support local immigrant and refugee populations.

University of Iowa international studies major Mastura Ibnat has been awarded a 2022-23 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award to teach English to elementary or middle school students in Taiwan.
