Claire-Player

International Studies Student Claire Player was awarded the Kristen K. Lippke Scholarship at the University of Iowa’s annual Celebration of Excellence and Achievement Among Women on April 7, 2021. Claire was one of 13 students recognized with scholarships to honor their work and commitment to women’s issues, diversity, and social activism.

"I am grateful and honored to have received the Lippke scholarship to help fund my education and bring me
closer to my goal of researching the impacts of global processes on rural women in the Global South. I hope
to conduct my own ethnographic research in the future surrounding the global systems that have come to
structure the lives and livelihoods of rural women and subsistence farmers, in order to better inform
development interventions and address structural inequalities."
