IS:3012 - Community-Engaged Learning will be offered for the second time in Spring 2021. This experiential learning course provides the opportunity to gain experience working with a Local/Global Nonprofit. International Studies students recommend taking Community Engaged Learning with Refugees and Immigrants in Iowa:

"IS:3012 Community Engaged Learning with Refugees and Immigrants in Iowa provided a local way to get up close and personal with immigrants in the area. It was a wonderful experience getting to communicate with immigrants in Iowa City while talking about what services they could offer for immigrants in Iowa."
Cece Dugger

"If you are looking for a non-traditional class where you will learn something new every day, consider taking this course."
Sid Petersen

Sid Peterson described her experience with IS:3012. Sid worked with Refugee & Immigrant Association (RIA) and that ultimately opened her eyes to the global community that exists in Iowa City. This course introduced her to a local refugee and immigrant organization and she listened to city hall officials at a panel during class and guest speakers such as UI Law professors speaking about US immigration law.
